Community Service
|
Ballet & Friends primary project is
the annual production of the Nutcracker to benefit Toys for Tots.
The Nutcracker season also provides many opportunities for community
service, for example:
- Scouts and ROTC cadets earn award credits by
helping to post advertising, distribute programs and bag toys.
- Over 2,000 elementary school students, many who
would not otherwise have an opportunity to attend a ballet
performance, enjoy special morning performances.
- Our advanced dancers visit classrooms full of
wide-eyed children to demonstrate ballet technique and answer
questions.
- We welcome everyone to Nutcracker whether or
not they can afford to donate a toy.

Education and Scholarships
|
| Ballet & Friends encourages and
sponsors students of ballet to enter competitions from the local to
the international level. Our dancers have placed first, second and
third in the Arizona Society of Arts and letters ballet
competitions. Students have been sponsored in competitions as far
away as Lucerne, Switzerland, some going on to dance professionally. |
Master Classes
|
| Our annual Master Classes afford
students a tremendous opportunity to receive a week of intensive
instruction from the finest ballet professionals such as; Natalia
Bessmertnova (Bolshoi Ballet, Victoria Lebedeva (Kirov Ballet,
Slawomir Wozniak (Warsaw Ballet) and Karen Scalzetti (Boston
Ballet), to name but a few. |
